ONEA members Valerie Serna (first grade teacher), Caye Yurchak (second grade teacher),  Susan Kempin (Title Math teacher), and Robin Breedlove (Title Math teacher) are crazy about Crazy 8’s at Washington Elementary School. Valerie initiated Crazy 8s at Washington, which is a recreational after-school math club that helps students enjoy the math behind their favorite activities. With Crazy 8s, students build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes, and play games like Toilet Paper Olympics. The club, under the guidance of Valerie, Caye, Susan, and Robin, is aimed at reducing math anxiety and encouraging Washington Champions to truly enjoy math!
